{Vacation Recap} Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Recently I had the exciting privilege of spending a glorious week at the Paradisus Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic courtesy of Silpada Designs. I’ve been blessed to have earned an all-expense paid trip through Silpada every year since I’ve been a part of the organization and Punta Cana marked my fourth trip. I’ll be going to Paris in September which will  mark my fifth earned expense-paid trip. Yeah! If you want details on how to earn these trips just click here.

What I loved most about this years trip was the opportunity to go into the community and give back. We were able to deliver shoes to children at three local elementary schools and pass them out personally. Since my husband is fluent in Spanish he was particularly thrilled because he was able to communicate directly to the kids.

Sadly, I’m allergic to chocolate and never developed a taste for coffee (I’m a tea girl) because it’s in abundance in Punta Cana. We were treated to raw chocolate straight from the cocoa beans, which I was unable to eat, and fresh coffee from coffee plants. It was fascinating to see how it’s made.

And of course the Dominican Republic is one of the largest exporters of sugar and rum!

Last, but certainly not least, the beaches, weather, food, and resort were absolutely breathtaking. The resort is massive so you never feel as if you’re tripping over the other guests; there are five star restaurants and a beach-side buffet serving everything from champagne to caviar, nightlife and entertainment, and of course incredible beaches and warm pools. If you’re looking for a vacation destination for just the two of you or the entire family, I can not recommend a more fabulous destination.

I was even able to spend time with my fellow blogger and Silpada colleague, Shantell Robertson from Get Your CHIC On! Check out her blog for some fabulous pictures of her outfits and adventures in Punta Cana. My outfit info can be found on my Resort Wear post.

Happy Monday!

I’m out here in gorgeous Punta Cana, Dominican Republic having an absolutely fabulous time and wanted to do something bold and share a few swimsuit shots. Just because you’re 50 and curvelicious doesn’t mean you can’t rock colorful sexy swimsuits. Here are 3 things to remember:

1. Get a suit that fits well. Swimsuits can be tailored like any other piece of clothing so don’t hesitate to make some alterations to get the perfect fit.

2. Make sure the cut and style compliments your body shape. As the saying goes, sometimes less is more. Curvy girls tend to wear too many or too bulky swimwear to cover up as much as possible and all that does is make you look bigger. I am NOT advocating for a string bikini because I personally believe in decorum and modesty; however, If you want to cover your tummy or your bum by all means do it, just try to opt for something that doesn’t add weight or bulk to your frame.

3. Finally, go with colors and styles you love. Here I chose a colorful two-piece because I LOVE the colors and I feel beautiful in it. In addition, the black suit is a one shoulder one piece that makes me feel sexy. I believe how you feel in a swimsuit is as important as how you look in one.

Here’s to loving and embracing you, wobbly bits and all! 😉
